Just got back from spending the winter down in sunny Florida, and let me tell you, it was glorious! But as much as I love the warmth and sunshine, it's always good to head back home. This year, we decided to break up the drive back to Maryland with a little detour to Myrtle Beach. And I'm so glad we did!
The main reason for our pit stop was to meet up with some dear friends, Sam and Crystal. We hadn't seen them in a few years, so it was the perfect opportunity to catch up and make some new memories. Myrtle Beach is always a fun place to visit, with its lively atmosphere and endless entertainment options, so we knew we were in for a good time.
We decided to stay at the KOA RV Resort, and we were pleasantly surprised. We snagged a really nice, luxurious spot – definitely a step up from some of the rv sites we've been to in the past. It had all the amenities we could ask for, and it was a great home base for our Myrtle Beach adventures.
The first day was all about golf. We decided to hit the links at River Oaks Golf Club. It was a beautiful course, well-maintained and with just enough challenge to keep things interesting. The weather was perfect, a slight breeze and plenty of sunshine, making for a thoroughly enjoyable morning.
After a relaxing lunch, we decided to switch things up a bit and embrace our inner child. Sam suggested we check out PopStroke, a mini-golf course. But this wasn't your average mini-golf experience. This place was seriously impressive!
For those who haven't heard of it, PopStroke is co-owned by founder and CEO Greg Bartoli, none other than golf legend Tiger Woods, and TaylorMade Golf Company. So, you know they're serious about their golf – even the miniature version. The course was incredibly well-designed, with challenging holes, and even some strategically placed bunkers. It felt like playing a real golf course, just scaled down.
What really stood out was the attention to detail. The greens were immaculate, the obstacles were creative and fun, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic. They even had an app where you could keep score, order drinks, and track your progress. Talk about taking mini-golf to the next level!
We spent a good couple of hours putting our way through the course, laughing, and maybe getting a little competitive. Jen, surprisingly, turned out to be the mini-golf champion of our group. Who knew she had such hidden talent?
But the best part of the trip was, without a doubt, spending time with Sam and Crystal. We reminisced about old times, shared stories, and just enjoyed each other's company. It's amazing how quickly time flies when you're with good friends. We had some fantastic dinners, explored the boardwalk, and even did a little bit of shopping.
Those few days in Myrtle Beach were exactly what we needed – a chance to relax, reconnect with friends, and create some lasting memories. It was the perfect way to break up the long drive home and ease back after a wonderful winter in Florida.
Myrtle Beach, you never disappoint! And to Sam and Crystal, thanks for the good times. We're already looking forward to our next visit! Now, it's time to start planning our next adventure. But for now, I'll cherish the memories we made in Myrtle Beach and the joy of spending time with dear friends.
