We had an amazing few days at Seneca Lake, NY! Seriously, what a blast. We stayed at the Finger Lakes RV Resort in Hector, NY, which was a great home base for exploring the area. The main mission was to hit up some wineries on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, and let me tell you, mission accomplished! So many delicious wines and beautiful views – it was the perfect way to spend a few days.
But the best part of the trip? Definitely the people. We met up with our awesome friends Phil & Laura and Tim & Cindy, who are locals from New York. They totally showed us the ropes and made the whole experience even more fun.
One of the highlights was definitely Phil taking us out on his pontoon for a 52-mile cruise on Seneca Lake. It was incredible. The weather was perfect, the scenery was stunning, and the company was even better. We were laughing the entire time. Seriously, this crew is something else. So much fun, so many laughs, and just a whole lot of love.
I swear, we had a song for every situation. It was like a non-stop karaoke party, with random bursts of lyrics coming out of nowhere. And don't even get me started on the inside jokes. "Condiments!" became our word of the trip – I can't even explain it, you just had to be there.
Jen even decided to take a dip in Seneca Lake! And get this – it's 514 feet deep and the water was cold!
We also had some good food during our stay. We grabbed lunch at Seneca Harbor Station, which had a good atmosphere and food. The next day, it was time to say goodbye to Seneca Lake and head towards Michigan. On our way, we stayed at Presque Isle Wine Cellars through Harvest Hosts, which was such a unique experience. That night we had dinner at The Skunk & Goat Tavern – a quirky name but amazing food. If it has goats or goat in the name, Jen makes sure we do not miss it!
Another Harvest Host we enjoyed was at Muffleheads Brewing Company. They had some fantastic craft beers, and we even played trivia. And guess what? We came in 3rd place! Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. We were pretty proud of our random knowledge.
But of course, we had to make a pit stop for lunch. We always try to find local spots to eat, and this time we stumbled upon Route 20 Diner. It was exactly what we were looking for – good old-fashioned diner food and a real local vibe.
Seneca Lake was an absolute blast. Great wine, great company, and unforgettable memories. I'm already looking forward to our next adventure with this crazy bunch!
