This summer, I embarked on an unforgettable RV camping adventure with my sons and their families along the East Coast. Our journey began at the picturesque Buttonwood Campground nestled in the heart of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. The campsite is in the Juniata River Valley, which is surrounded by mountains. It offers numerous activities, including a swimming pool, mini-golf, and pedal carts, but we were drawn to the river.
One afternoon we brought our chairs into the river and simply enjoyed the tranquility of sitting there, relaxed with a drink, and feeling the water flow over us. The next day, we had the thrilling experience of tubing down the river, surrounded by natural beauty as we navigated the gentle currents. We laughed and splashed in the sunshine. Along the way, we spotted a few turtles basking lazily on a floating log.
Later in the day, we retreated to the on-site Juniata Valley Winery where we savored a selection of local wines. As night fell, we gathered around a campfire, chatting, laughing, and playing cornhole under a night sky. Come morning, there’s nothing like the sound of pancakes and bacon sizzling on the grill, welcoming us with another day of joy, adventure, and the warmth of family togetherness.
