Just got back from a fantastic trip to Cape Charles, Virginia! It was such a needed getaway with Jen, my brother, my sister-in-law, and Mom. We took our RV’s, excited for some coastal relaxation, and Cape Charles definitely delivered.
One of the first things we did was explore downtown. It's such a charming little area, with cute shops and restaurants lining the streets. We spent a leisurely afternoon just wandering around, popping into different stores, and soaking up the small-town atmosphere.
For our accommodations, we decided to camp at the KOA campground. It was the perfect base for our adventures. We spent three days there, enjoying the outdoors and each other's company. Evenings were filled by recapping the day and that wonderful feeling of being disconnected from the everyday hustle.
We have to tell you about this awesome jewelry store we found called Moonrise Jewelry. They had the most unique pieces! Jen ended up buying a stingray skin bracelet – it's so cool and different. They also had other jewelry made from multicolored fish skin, which was really eye-catching. She is already getting compliments on my bracelet!
Another highlight of the trip was visiting At Altitude Gallery. Not only was the art amazing, but they also had a great selection of wine. We ended up buying a bottle of Caymus Walking Fool wine and enjoyed it while admiring the artwork. It was the perfect way to unwind and appreciate the creative atmosphere.
Of course, no trip to a coastal town is complete without some delicious seafood. We had a good meal at The Shanty restaurant. The atmosphere was nice, the service was good, and the food was good as well. We sat inside, overlooking the water, and just savored every bite.
But honestly, some of my favorite moments were the simplest ones. We spent each evening watching the sunsets over the Chesapeake Bay. The colors were absolutely breathtaking – vibrant oranges, pinks, and purples painting the sky. It was so peaceful and serene, a perfect way to end each day.
We also made sure to spend plenty of time walking along the beach. The sand was soft and the water was refreshing. We collected seashells, watched the waves roll in, and just enjoyed the feeling of the sun on our skin. It was so relaxing and therapeutic.
Cape Charles really has something for everyone. Whether you're looking for outdoor adventures, good food, unique shopping, or just a place to relax and unwind, you'll find it there. We are so glad we took this trip with family and made some wonderful memories. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
